A massed planting in Tokachi Millennium Forest caught my eye (I haven't been there unfortunately)

Iris reticulata 'Painted Lady' cool over a bushy mound ofIris are sun loving plants that need lots of light when they are in growth, so deciduous trees are the thing or in a rock garden or trough. Put them where you can admire them flowering from mid July. This variety is pure white with pale mauve on the fall tips. Make a great display with snowdrops, ferns or delicate leaved Corydallis and moss, plant out in the garden.
